Unhappening. Not here, not now.

Unhappening. Not here, not now.

After 5 years of net art, hacktivism and critic intervention on social media, Les Liens Invisibles focus their project on the subtle boundary between social media production and contemporary art production creating from scratch their first solo exhibition.

While “pics or it didn’t exist” is a common phrase used on the Internet forums in front of unbelievable situations, on the contrary this exhibition, as well all the artworks it contains, will never happen nor here nor now: it/they will exist just as a dispersed low-fi documentation made of pictures, photographs, texts grabbed and/or generated from users around the World Wide Web and then placed within the context of an art catalogue.

As far as a happening – as Fluxus imagined it – is intentended to be a performance, event or situation which could take place anywhere and meant to be considered art,  we can figure an unhappening as its ironical subversion: it could be a picture, video or text – taken from everyday life on social media – which meant to be considered a performance, event or situation  which meant themselves to be considered art: a sort of ridicolous collision between conceptual art, software art and Internet Art in the context of semiotic overproduction on the Internet.
